Birthday Girl

Kennedy turned five today!!! Wow, how time flies!!! We are so thankful and blessed to call her our daughter. She is growing up and maturing more and more each day. She is all girl, who loves princesses, butterflies, dress-up, coloring, painting, dancing, and theatre. She loves the arts and it will be neat to see how this love mainfest in her someday. I was not blessed with any of these talents, so I'm loving seeing may daughter flourish in these areas!!! This year, she requested a butterfly, girl only party at our house!! I was pleasantly suprised, seeing how I knew it would make for a smaller party, but at the same time sad all her boy friends would miss out on her special day. I'm sure they would not have enjoyed painting butterflies and flowers, pinning the spot on the ladybug, and facepaint:) She even told me her Daddy would have to take her brother somewhere for the party. I talked her into letting those two boys stay, but Caleb napped through the crafting and facepaint part, which was perfect. He woke up in time for cake, presents,and the pinata. As I reflect on the past five years, the thing I'm most thankful for is how Kennedy becomming our daughter made me understand God's love for us more. I could not imagine anyone loving someone more than I loved her at that moment five years ago, but HE does!!!! How awesome and unfathomly is that!!!! God loves her more than I love her and HE loves each of us that much!!! What a mighty, gracious, and merciful God we serve!!! Halloween

We love Halloween in The Coyle House, especially Kennedy and Daddy!!! Kennedy loves to dress up year-round, so of course she loves a day devoted to being in character. She decided the day after last Halloween that she would be Little Red Riding Hood, no joke. She talked about if for a year and did not waiver once, the girl knows what she likes :) I was just happy to be off the Dorothy kick for a change. So we thought, great another fun theme we can do as a family. Caleb will make a perfect Big Bad Wolf, Daddy would be the woodcutter/lumberjack Daddy of LRR and I would be the grandma and that was all fine and great with Kennedy, but as she approaches five and Halloween drew near she decided that Mommy and Daddy should not dress up. I was a little sad and heartbroken, but would hate to cramp my almost five year olds style or embarass her, I can only imagine when fifteen gets here. So we decided that only the kids would dress up this year. Daddy was even more heartbroken than mommy, he loves to dress up and always does a great job on his costume. Luckliy, for him, K changed her mind the day before Halloween and said he could join her, but not mommy, "Everyone would laugh at mommy in a grandma costume" in her words. So daddy rushed around town finding his woodcutter shirt and making his cardboard axe, he is so creative and such a good daddy and so we have our Little Red Riding Hood, Woodcuter Daddy, and The Big Bad Wolf of 2010 while mommy enjoyed capturing every moment in my street clothes :)

Motley's Pumpkin Patch

We made our second trip to the pumpkin patch this year the day before Halloween, but this time was even better because Daddy was able to come along with us and everything is more fun when Daddy joins us!! We went a few weeks ago to Schaffer's Patch in Mayflower, which is a tradition for me and the kids. We've gone there for the past three years with friends during the week, so this time we decided to try Motley's right here in Little Rock on a Saturday so Daddy could join us. It was great, from the hayride, cow tractor train, hayfort; and the kids favorite, the pig races!! They got such a kick out of watching the pigs, it was pretty cute!!

 

 

 

 

State Fair

One of the things I love about fall is the State Fair. I know, many people hate the fair and think it is dangerous, dirty, and a waste of money, but I enjoy taking the kids and reliving those days when I was a kid and the excitement I would get at seeing all the rides, lights, and animals. We made two trips to the fair this year in the same day and spent a total of $14 dollars, I know amazing!!! I took the kids with our friends; The Burkes, in the morning to the free kiddie day, which is a great deal, kids and parents ride as many kiddie rides as they want for free. Daddy returned with us that evevning to walk through the livestock barns and petting zoo. The kids had a great time both times and even daddy, one of those skeptics of the fair, enjoyed himself, fun had by all!!
